Shipping and Operations Associate

Location: The Yo Store – Portland, OR
Rate of Pay: $18 per hour
Hours: 2 days a week, ideally Tuesday - Thursday

We are looking for a detail-oriented and efficient E-commerce Fulfillment Assistant to support our online store operations through Shopify. This role focuses on picking, packing, and shipping orders with care, ensuring every Yo Store package feels thoughtful and beautifully presented.

Key Responsibilities

Order Fulfillment (Shopify)

• Process daily online orders through Shopify
• Pick items accurately from the shop floor/back stock
• Ensure all items are correct, in perfect condition, and ready to ship

Packaging + Presentation

• Pack orders using brand-specific packaging (tissue, sleeves, boxes, etc.)
• Follow clear packaging guidelines per product category (ceramics, clothing, stationery, etc.)
• Maintain a high standard of presentation—every package should feel like a gift

Shipping + Logistics

• Create and print shipping labels via Shopify
• Coordinate shipments via UPS (and USPS for HI/PO boxes)
• Organize outgoing shipments for scheduled dispatch days (typically Tues/Thurs)

Inventory + Accuracy

• Flag missing or damaged items immediately
• Ensure all products are properly barcoded and aligned with Shopify listings
• Communicate any discrepancies clearly to the team

Back Office Support

• Assist with unpacking new deliveries
• Help with pricing + barcoding before items go to shop floor
• Maintain a clean, organized fulfillment space

• Highly detail-oriented and organized
• Comfortable using Shopify (or quick to learn)
• Efficient and able to work independently
• Strong sense of ownership and follow-through
• Care for product handling and presentation
• Positive, team-oriented attitude

• Previous retail or e-commerce experience
• Familiarity with Shopify backend + shipping workflows
• Interest in fashion, kids, and lifestyle goods

• Work with a small, thoughtful, women-owned business

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate reliability and consistent attendance

• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Retail experience preferred

• Shopify experience a plus

• Must be 21 years of age or older

• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs

  • Comfortable standing, packing, and moving for extended period

   

Weekend Part-Time Retail Associate

Sunday (12-5.30pm) + Monday (9.30am - 5.30pm) 

Location: The Yo Store – Portland, OR
Rate of Pay: $18 per hour / store discount 
Schedule:

• Sundays: 12:00pm–5:30pm

• Mondays: 9:30am–5:30pm

• Ideally this person would take both shifts but we are open to hiring for Sunday only.

The Yo Store is seeking a dependable and motivated Part-Time Retail Associate to join our team. This role requires a consistent weekly commitment and the ability to work collaboratively in a small business retail environment.

Position Overview

The Retail Associate will provide excellent customer service, support daily store operations, and maintain the overall presentation and organization of the sales floor. This position works alongside another team member on Sunday but solo on a Monday (with support from store manager).

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional, welcoming customer service

• Assist customers with product selection and styling guidance

• Operate POS and complete sales transactions accurately

• Maintain visual merchandising standards and store organization and cleaning

• Assist with restocking, receiving, and general operational tasks

• Take initiative in identifying and completing daily priorities

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate reliability and consistent attendance

• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Retail experience preferred

• Shopify experience a plus

• Must be 21 years of age or older

• Must be able to lift and move 50lb
