Portland Downtown Guide

The first of a mini series about different areas of Portland and where I call home.

This week it's all about downtown Portland (a tiny snapshot though as we only had 2 hours on a Monday!)

My friend Pam, the OG downtown shop owner of Frances May (14 years and counting!) took us to her favorite spots where her and her team shop and eat.

Let's go!

First stop - Frances May of course! I met Pam over 10 years ago when she was a team of 3 (!!!)

Fast forward 14 years and Pam recently bought an incredible building and built it out (actually did all the work herself with her husband - from the building to the interiors). An incredibly inspiring store with three floors offering clothing, jewelry, apothecary and a shop in a shop model from Parisian brand APC and local florist Colibri.

I picked up a cute green suede Rachel Comey bag and Rachel Comey Fond black sweater and we headed out!

COFFEE!

There are many spots for coffee downtown but the FM team frequent the wonderful colorful Never Coffee and Courier Coffee.

SHOPPING DOWNTOWN!

WOONWINKEL:

An amazing colorful home and gift store! They also carry local artist Alex Proba home goods specifically cushions and bathmats. (I have these dotted round my house and love!)

KISSING BOOTH:

A great vintage store co-owned by friends. I was delighted with my find - a green Kent tee shirt (where I grew up, an hour from London). If you're looking specifically for vintage and preloved stores that blog post is coming soon!

KB have since moved to SE Hawthorne.

ODESSA:

Closed on Mondays, but Susan was kind enough to let us in to shop her chic finds. This is a beautiful store, offering incredible clothing pieces from select chic designers.

MACHUS:

A family-owned, multi-brand boutique with a single brick-and-mortar store since 2011! Unbelievably this was my first time in this store. Great basics and great pieces. I'll be back!

KIRIKO and KOKORO:

Kiriko is a wonderland of Japanese clothing and textiles.

Across the road is their sister store Kokoro, specializing in kitchenware and ingredients imported from and inspired by Japan. Pam swept up some kitchen goods and we left with our free WE <3 DOWNTOWN PORTLAND pin!

SNACKS!

SO many options downtown again, but Pam took us to her hot spots.

ADDY SANDWICHES

and

TAYLOR STREET KITCHEN.

First time for me - an amazing lunch at Taylor Street Kitchen - I loved it here! Next time I'm visiting the Portland Art Museum or Portland Saturday Market, I can't wait to come back here.

Closed on Monday's but worth a visit (we tried!!)
